The pieces you see here are from a new series I am working on called
VINTAGE POP.
Part of how these images work is looking at how they are constructed.
How were the images chosen? Where were they found? What does the
antique photo portrait have to do with the book cover? Are they
related? How are they related? How is TIME expressed visually? Has it
changed over the years? Can seemingly unrelated images from different
time periods co-exist visually, like they do in memory? I'm
comfortable with those questions being unanswered. The series is also about pop culture and love of old graphics, obviously. And, there's
something very Dada about using this old stuff and calling it art — love that feeling — though the image combinations and juxtapositions
are perhaps more loaded than Duchamp's snow shovel!
